Help! What's my New Year's resolution again?

According to Business Insider, 80% of all New Year’s resolutions get busted by February. February!! Seeing as we’re nearly there, Honey’s here to help you stick to your goals.

We’ve researched the top 10 most common resolutions and hand-picked a few ways our merchant partners[1] can aid in keeping you on track.

Exercise More

It’s not always about losing weight or gaining mass, sometimes it’s just about feeling great and being the best version of yourself. Not feeling motivated?

Macy's and Kohl's are both savvy options to one-stop-shop for active apparel, footwear and fitness accessories for the whole family. Being motivated to work out is super hard when you feel uncomfortable doing it. Elastic on your sports bra worn out? Holes in your compression shorts? Throw them out and start over. You can afford to with Honey helping 😉

Often times, the right clothes just aren't enough. Set subtle reminders on your Fitbit to get moving or join the Fitbit community to stay motivated all year long.

Eat Healthier

Easier said than done, we know. Eating healthy takes time and energy and costs more and- wait, but does it? Fortunate for us all, there are more resources than ever to help form a better relationship with food.

A personal favorite of this Honey writer’s is a cookbook by Skinnytaste author, Gina Homolka, Fast and Slow. We all have an ever-growing to-do list and ever-dwindling free time. This cookbook features recipes that take less time and less attention with a low-cal and clean-eating approach.

Need something a little more regimented and a support system to go with it? (Don’t we all.) Weight Watchers is running a New Year special through Feb. 1st: join now and get one month free!

Spend Less, Save More

We heard about this great browser add-on that not only saves millions of users millions of dollars every month, it also gives bonus rewards back on thousands of eligible stores - oh wait, that's Honey!

But of course, you can't just keep spending money 💸 and expect to save it at the same time. So why not make a budget plan? You'll want to start with tracking your expenses and income. For entrepreneurs, Quickbooks is granting deep discounts (up to 70% off!) for Small Business and Freelancer plan subscriptions of 6 months or more.

For those of us who don't have our own business (and just need a gentle reminder to go easy on the $5-a-cup coffee runs,) there's a multitude of FREE apps available, like Intuit's Mint.

Learn Something New

There’s no better way to try something new than to do it with a discount. And you can’t go wrong with Groupon. Selection and availability varies based on your location, but here’s a few quick picks for the Greater Los Angeles area (where Honey HQ is!)

Quit Smoking

This goes hand-in-hand with feeling great and being the best you.

If this is your resolution for 2018, we know it's by no means an easy one. We’ve heard all sorts of tips to help quit smoking that include Tootsie Pops, Atomic FireBalls and even beef jerky and licorice root, but one thing sounded for certain: going "cold turkey" isn't for everyone. Lucky for you, we found some great discounts on everything from NicoDerm (save $10 through Feb. 17th) to hard candies at Walgreens. (Don't forget to activate your Honey Gold Rewards on this store!)

Do you have a tip or trick to quit? Let us know in the comments!

Alas, such is the resolution of this author as well. If you don’t have a grotesque stash of unread books piling up in your house… then a bookstore is a good place to start!

Check out Barnes & Noble’s lists of Top Books to read here:

We also recommend setting a reading goal and joining a book community like Goodreads - we just did!

Get Organized

Everyone is different, and everyone organizes differently. (Which I guess is why my husband never puts anything away where it belongs… 🤔 ) We couldn’t think of a better place to find custom organization solutions than Etsy. From custom drawer inserts to Bullet Journal stencils and one of the coolest kitchen shelves we’ve ever seen - (it’s like having your own personal Whole Foods!) -there’s something for everyone.

Travel More

“Travel far enough, you meet yourself.”

With over 6,000 properties in 122 countries and territories, Marriott isn’t a bad place to start when planning your next trip.

Spend More Time with Friends & Family

Want to reunite with old friends for a 'gram-worthy night out? StubHub offers access to millions of live events in more than 40 countries and backs each purchase so you can buy those tickets with confidence. (And yes, you can still snag Super Bowl LII tickets - if you have an extra $4K laying around.)

Or perhaps it's time to corral the extended family for a seaside reunion? According to VRBO, you can "rent a whole house for half the price of a hotel." A whole house, or a whole Irish castle, or a whole tree house in Peru... The limit is your imagination.

Help Others

We love that such a truly altruistic sentiment is a top resolution! So we’ve assembled a few recommendations from the Honey team on ways to shop with a purpose:

Amazon Smile: choose from nearly 1M charitable organizations to contribute money towards on nearly every purchase you make - with no money out of your own pocket.

Alex and Ani: Alex and Ani has 48 non-profit partners supported through design, where either a portion or all of the proceeds go towards the selected cause.

Colored Organics:

"They are a kids clothing store that donates to homeless children, and their clothes are adorable!"

Toms: Toms has long been a brand associated with social responsibility. We already know that Toms donates a pair of shoes for every pair purchased, but what we didn’t know is that Toms also gives sight (through eye exams, prescription glasses and medical treatment inclusive of sight-saving surgeries,) improved access to water, safe birth environments and bully prevention programs. WOW. Hold our keyboard while we go shop Toms…

Nordstrom Cares Clothing Donation: buy from Nordstrom, then use the box to ship back clothes you no longer want! Easy-peasy.

Sephora Stands: $10 from each purchase of a Sephora Stands FEARLESS Lipstick supports their programs to empower women and positively impact the Sephora communities.

Have any recommendations in addition to the above? What's your 2018 resolution? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Many of our merchant partners featured on this list also offer Honey Gold! Why? Because we want to make sure you save as much money as possible while crushing your goals this year. ↩︎
